We typed three messages into the assistant on intercom.com and compared what happened with the same messages on a site running Maya. Where we did not test something, the table says so.

What Fin is genuinely good at

Fin comes with the Intercom support product around it, and parts of that are worth having if support is your main job.

  • A large support ecosystem. Our research notes of 12 Oct 2026 record resolution reporting, procedures and insights, handover to human agents and enterprise integrations around Fin.
  • Channels beyond the website. The same notes record email, phone and Slack as well as chat.
  • Regional hosting. The messenger's code lists API hosts for three regions: us, eu and ap.
  • A proactive greeting. A greeting bubble appeared before any click: "Hi there. You are now speaking with Fin. How can I help?"
  • A free trial without a card. The banner on intercom.com: "14 day free trial. No credit card required." Maya's trial needs a card.
  • Voice notes. The messenger has a microphone button for recording a voice note.

Where Maya differs

  • Voice on the site. A visitor can speak to Maya and hear her answer, in the same widget as the text chat. Plans include 500, 1,000 or 2,000 voice minutes a month.
  • The page moves. "Show me the pricing" scrolls the visitor to it. "Open the tour" opens the site's real pop-up.
  • The visitor's language. Maya talks and types in 70+ languages and, when the site has the language, switches the page too.
  • Booking and follow-up. On Booking and above she books in the conversation, sends reminders by email, follows up with people who have not booked and asks for private feedback after a visit.
  • Found by AI search. Maya publishes your approved facts for AI assistants and gives them a connection to ask your Maya. When a visitor is handed over, the conversation comes with them.
  • Built from your website. You give Maya your site and a few notes; she builds a digital copy of your business, you review it, and most owners are live in about ten minutes.

Maya is not a help desk. She answers customers on your website from your approved business knowledge and passes callback requests to you, with the conversation attached.

Price

Fin's price depends on how you use it, and Intercom points to fin.ai/pricing for the detail. We did not verify any per-resolution or per-seat figure, so this page quotes none. Maya has three plans: Connect at €299 a month, Booking at €499 and Reception at €899, each plus VAT, with a 7-day trial, a card needed to start, and one-click cancellation. There are no per-conversation or per-resolution fees. See pricing for what each plan includes.

Who should pick which

Fin fits when

  • You already run Intercom as your help desk, or a help desk Fin works with (Fin's own pricing answer names Zendesk and Salesforce).
  • The main job is resolving support conversations with handover to a team.
  • You need reporting and procedures around support, regional hosting, or channels beyond the website.

Maya fits when

  • Your customers arrive on your website and need an answer, a language or a booking.
  • You want voice on the site and a page that moves.
  • You have no support team or help desk and want one assistant to find, answer, book and follow up.
  • You are an agency and want to run the same assistant for many clients.

How we compared

On 12 Oct 2026 we opened intercom.com, let its assistant greet us, and typed three messages: whether it spoke Italian, a request to show the pricing page, and a plan question for a 10-person team. We did not sign up, enter personal details or use a microphone. We could read the scripts the messenger loads but not the inside of its frames, and we did not test Fin on a customer's own help centre. Maya's side comes from our own testing and from what the product does today. Intercom may have changed since.

Questions people ask

Is Maya a replacement for Intercom?

Maya can take over the website part of the job: answering visitors, moving the page, capturing leads, booking and following up. If your support team works tickets in a shared inbox with assignments and reports, that is a help desk, and Maya is not one.

Does Fin answer in the visitor's language?

On 12 Oct 2026, on intercom.com, we asked in English whether it spoke Italian and it replied that it would continue in English. We did not test other languages or other configurations, and a business's own Fin may be set up differently.

How does the price compare?

Fin's own answer on 12 Oct 2026 was that pricing depends on whether you use Fin with Intercom or with an existing help desk, with a link to fin.ai/pricing. We did not verify any per-resolution or per-seat figure, so we quote none. Maya is €299, €499 or €899 a month plus VAT, with no per-conversation or per-resolution fees.

How long does Maya take to set up?

Most owners are live in about ten minutes. You give Maya your website and a few notes, review the digital copy of your business she builds, and add one script tag or use a guided install. Installation is free if you would rather not do it.
