Maya sets herself up from your website. You paste one line of code or install the WordPress plugin, she reads your pages and checks each fact against your site, and you review what she learned before any visitor talks to her.
The setup path
The line you paste looks like this. Your Widget ID is shown in the setup screen and in the dashboard under Widget and Embed.

- Install. Add one line of code to your site through your builder's code box, or on WordPress upload the plugin zip, paste your Widget ID and tick the consent box. The setup screen has step-by-step text for Webflow, Wix, Squarespace, GoHighLevel, Framer, Shopify, WordPress, Duda, HubSpot and plain HTML, and an option to email the steps to your developer.
- Pair the WordPress plugin. In the dashboard you get a one-time secure connection code: 43 characters, valid for 15 minutes, shown once and accepted once. Enter it in the plugin and the site is paired.
- Check. Press "Check my site now". Maya looks for her script on your public site and tells you when she is there.
- Scan. Maya reads your pages and builds what she knows about the business.
- Review. You see what she learned, what she held back and the questions she will suggest to visitors, and you correct anything in a sentence.
- Go live. When you are happy, visitors meet her on every page that carries the script.
On WordPress you install the plugin by uploading the zip from your dashboard. Install steps for each builder, including which ones need a paid plan for custom code, are on the integrations page.
What the scan builds
- She reads your pages, up to 200 pages in one scan, and builds the facts she will answer from: services, prices, hours, offers and how the site is organised.
- She checks every fact against the whole website before she uses it. A fact the check cannot support is held back for you to look at, not deleted. In one test scan of a 17-page site, 375 facts were checked, none were held back and one was trimmed.
- She finds your site's own language switcher, so that she can switch the real page when a visitor asks for another language.
- Her scan browser test-clicks your buttons to learn which ones only open a pop-up. While it does this it blocks payments, form submissions and new windows. A button becomes a pop-up she may open only when clicking it showed a dialog and nothing else happened. This check covers the home page, up to 10 controls.
- She never presses pay, checkout, buy now, delete or unsubscribe buttons. On Shopify and WooCommerce she adds an item to the cart when the shopper asks, and never goes further than that.
- She writes three starter questions from your own content. Visitors see them as tap-to-ask chips, and an Italian visitor sees them in Italian. You can edit them or switch them off.
- She picks up your logo and your main colour so the widget looks like it belongs on the page.
How long it takes. Scans of a site of about 17 pages took between 106 and 146 seconds in tests on 12 Oct 2026.
What you review and teach
Maya is meant to be corrected like a new colleague, not configured like software. There is no prompt to write.
- Held back from your last scan. Facts the check could not support are listed with a "This is true, use it" button. When we looked at a live scan the list read "Nothing held back, Maya is using everything from your website".
- Open questions. When Maya cannot answer a visitor, the question appears on your list. You type the answer once and she uses it in new conversations.
- Starter questions. Edit the three suggestions or switch them off.
- Instant page translation. On by default, and you can switch it off in the widget settings.
When you teach an answer, new conversations use it word for word. If you use ChatGPT or Claude, you can also answer open questions from there once you have connected your account; the security page explains how that connection signs in.
What your visitor gets
- Three suggested questions from your own site, then up to two follow-up chips. They hide while the visitor types.
- Voice or text. Voice runs in the browser after the visitor allows the microphone; if the microphone is refused, or the prompt is ignored for 10 seconds, Maya drops to typed chat. One voice conversation lasts up to 15 minutes by default.
- Answers from your site and from what you taught her. When she does not know, she says so and offers to connect the visitor or take their details.
- The page moves. She scrolls to a section, goes to another page of your site, opens the pop-ups the scan verified, and tells the visitor where a button is when she cannot safely press it.
- Their own language. She greets them in their browser's language and talks in 70+ languages. When your site has a version in the visitor's language she switches to it with your own switcher. When it has none, she translates the page in place, labelled "Translated by Maya" with a "Show original" button.
- A lead only after confirmation. She reads the details back in one message, and the lead is saved only after the visitor says yes.
How she stays current
Maya checks your pages for changes and refreshes what changed, instead of reading the whole site again. You can also start a re-scan yourself: 2 a month on Connect, 4 on Booking and 4 on Reception. If a re-scan fails, the credit is given back and you get an email.
The pop-up check described above runs during a full scan, on the home page. If your pop-ups change, start a re-scan.

How long does setup take?
Installing is pasting one line, or uploading a plugin. The scan of a 17-page site took between 106 and 146 seconds in three test runs on 12 Oct 2026, and the first scan after a test signup took 83 seconds. One scan reads up to 200 pages.
Do I need a developer?
Not for the install in most builders: it is one line pasted into a code box that the builder provides. Some builders need a paid plan for custom code, and the integrations page lists which. If you would rather not, the setup screen can email the steps to your developer.
Can I see what Maya learned before visitors talk to her?
Yes. You review the knowledge, the held-back list and the starter questions before you go live, and you can correct a fact in one sentence. Anything the check could not support waits on the held-back list until you say it is true.
What does Maya do when she does not know?
She says so, offers to connect the visitor or take their details, and puts the question on your open-questions list. When you answer it, new conversations use your answer. Similar questions are grouped, though a differently worded version can still appear twice.
Does Maya change my website?
She loads on your pages through the script or plugin and does not rewrite your pages. A page she translates is changed only in that visitor's browser, never in your site's code. By default the script also adds structured data (JSON-LD) to your pages, and you can switch that off.
